What is Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry?
Feeling relaxed and worry-free during your dental procedure can increase the success of your overall treatment in the long-run. Oral sedation can range from minimal to moderate doses through either a pill or an anesthesia mask.
Dr. Carley is certified by the California Dental Board in Oral Conscious Sedation. His years of experience allow him to safely and effectively administer all forms of dental sedation, depending on your specific needs.
Your Oral Sedation Options
Dr. Carley and our Santa Barbara team will focus first on your initial examination to ensure it’s thorough and precise, allowing us to discover all your dental desires. Our compassionate and gentle care will guarantee nothing is done unless you feel confident and give us the “okay.”
Once we determine if you’re a viable candidate for sedation dentistry, we will explain each one of your options and your treatment will begin with the help of your preferred sedative.
We offer nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, which helps you relax, but still keeps you awake during your treatment in case we need your assistance. We also offer deep oral sedation for the more fearful patients who can peacefully sleep during their procedure.
Whichever level of oral sedation you receive, driving home on your own may not be our recommended option. If you have received a higher dosage of sedation, we strongly suggest you have a family or friend drive you home in case the effects haven’t worn off in time.
Benefits of Oral Conscious
No matter the reasoning of your personal dental phobia or fear, we will make sure that even the most minimal discomfort is noticed. Oral conscious sedatives will stimulate a tranquil state-of-mind so we can successfully complete your implant procedure as efficiently as possible.
